    Living Joyfully

    Joy according to the dictionary is “a feeling of great pleasure or happiness that comes from success, good fortune, or a sense of well-being”.  Joy is an internal contentment and is dependent on our attitude.

    “The brain is like Velcro for negative experiences and Teflon for positive ones.” (Rick Hanson – Meditation teacher) so to overcome our natural tendency to dwell on the negative, we can begin to focus on joyful moments in our daily lives.  However soaking in moments of delight requires mindfulness.  Cultivating joy is a daily practice;  studies reveal that cultivating joy boosts your immune system, increases your levels of serotonin and healthy people are 20% more joyful.
